Dustin brings AI and ML to the front lines of economic policy and regulation.
He is an AI and machine learning researcher, regulation economist, Doctor in Economics from UC Riverside, and has published over 40 papers. In 2024, he was a Visiting Fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution, exploring how large language models (LLMs) can decode complex regulations. Beginning in 2025, Dustin became the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Regulatory Economics, published by Springer Nature.
Beyond academia, he’s founded two startups and advised companies backed by Y Combinator and Google. His research and consulting span big names like Pew Charitable Trust, the Mercatus Center, and governors’ offices across the country. Whether he’s briefing lawmakers or building machine learning models, Dustin brings data to life. Off the clock, he’s on Maryland’s Eastern Shore with his wife and kids.
